The video is a clear and concrete evidence of how the helpless people of Baler particularly the upland dwellers do their everyday living just to survive. Yes, this is just only in Baler, how much more in other places especially in DICADI of which there is an existing logging operation?Charcoal making is just an ordinary scene if you are regularly visiting in the long range of Sierra Madre. There are more aggravating forest destruction activities if you really want to go in the heart of the forest. I can’t beleived that the people who are doing charcoal making came from other places as what the people in the actual scene replied. It is a form of scapegoat that they are afraid to be punished by law. I do appreciate the video and commend the people who posted it for their courage. I hope the concerned agencies and our current government officials have time to watch this video and make a sustainable plan to address this problem. In resolving this problem, the principle lies in this phrase, “People first and sustainable forestry will follow”. Please post more videos. Onegaishimasu!

i agree with sir rotaquio… the logging activity became the survival jobs of some of the locals… unless of course, they find alternative lasting jobs to it…. (either they renew their minds and firmly decide to have alternative one or the government provides for them)

there is hope on those who seek good jobs even though the government failed to address it at the moment…
