Ate Donna’s Tribute to Baler

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Huy! Batangbaler is still alive!

And to start the new season of this blog, we will present a facebook hit from Ate Donna, who has compiled (and still compiling) a sort of “Everything You Need to Know About Baler” list. So if you think you’re a true blue Balerian but can’t relate to half of these notes, then you’re in trouble. You’re on the wrong side of history baby!

Ate Dons already has 3 installments of this thing and the unsolicited additions are still pouring in like subasko. These should be compiled in a book, turned into a rap song, a musical or even a movie - Baler Part 2: Ehe Ay Oyo!

And here are the goodies!!!

SANG KA PA BAET?
(a tribyut to BALERyano’s)

I Finally Saw Baler the Movie

Baler the Movie

I finally saw Baler the Movie. It was a fine yarn but between the dog that never ages and Anne Curtis’ french tip, I can’t feel the soul of the real Baler in the film. For me the highlight of the movie is the two-second clip featuring Mac Ritual (picture above). All in all, shots taken in Baler clocks in at less than 2 minutes.

And since this film is only based on the real story, the history is inaccurate and the geography is wrong. Teachers should not make the mistake of showing the movie to their students and present it as the real thing. The film is 99% showbiz. For the real story of the Siege of Baler, check out this website

The movie is now available on DVD. Check out kabayancentral.com
