Notable read is Baler and it’s People by Mrs. Ilovita Mesina, which accounts the lineage of the current residents of Baler (70% migrants) and ends with a nostalgic longing for the Baler of old:
The onset of urbanization and technology and the fast-growing population of Baler have marred the tranquil and unhurried existence of the Balerenos. Vehicular noise replaced the sound of crickets and the night birds. Kaingeros populate the forests and do damage to the environment. Catch from the sea have become minimal. Fishermen have to venture far into the ocean to haul fish in commercial quantities. Quezon’s dream town has disappeared.
Nevertheless, Aurora is still magnificent at sunrise and during sunset. Twilight is still a joy to behold. There are still places where one can commune with nature, there the rustling wind is still music to one’s ears, the cascading waterfalls energize the mind and the spirit, and the verdant rice fields give one a feeling of security and stability.
Also, don’t miss The Siege of Baler: Versions and Contradictions by Jose Maria A. CariƱo and Baler During The American Period: The Reign Of Quezon by Manuel L. Quezon III

Just curious about other Balerians. Some of them are movers and shakers of Baler for years. Some were even neighbors and playmates of MLQ in parke prior to their relocation in Bagumbayan. Where did these Balerians come from?
Educators (principals/teachers) =Bautista, Sindac, Hernandez, Galban, Rubio
Politicians and businessmen = Ong, Ectubanez, Tangson, Pimentel, Lopez, Sanchez
Bankers=Suaverdez
Professionals and others = Amazona, Belen, Duaso, de Asis, Dumandal, Tolentino, Navarro, Ruidera, Guinacaran, Leander, Palmero, Farro, Rey,
If I remember correctly, somewhere in Batangbaler, it was mentioned that MLQ appointed three Balerian mayors: Mayor Guerrero for Baler; Mayor Angara for Casiguran and Mayor Bernardino for Quezon City. Where did the Bernardinos come from?
