Art News

Something wonderful happened last month – an art gallery was opened in Baler. It’s called High Heeled Dumagats gallery and it opened during the Aurora week celebrations. The gallery is owned by balikbayan Diosdado “Dading” Gonzales and located in front of Quezon Memorial Park in Baler where the former Nyza drug house was located. I visited the place two weeks ago and over a couple of bottles of red wine talked with the owner and Mr Noli Guerrero about their plans for the gallery. One early project is the Sobkal Festival of the Arts happening on April 3-5 at the Quezon Park. I will post the details later in this blog. The latest gallery exhibit is called Baler: A State of Mind and features works of the Dimalangat Arts Group and other local artists of the Province. They’re also having an art workshop for kids.

Some updates from the Provincial Tourism Office:

Mdme. Charlotte M. alerted me about a 1-day jewelry-making exhibit happening at the Baler Municipal Plaza right this very moment – March 20, 2009. Buy and patronize the products of the women of Aurora!

And the youtube page of the Aurora Tourim Office has a new video: Aurora Philippines Friday the 13th Surfari. The surf spot is Dalugan, Casiguran, Aurora. Watch.

And I discovered that they also have a flick page. Check out the Tourism Aurora Flickr Page.

A website would be good.
